Care Guide
All of our jewelry is made of precious materials that should be taken care of with mindfulness. As a general rule, jewelry should always be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. We recommend always taking off your jewelry when doing anything rough with your hands such as washing dishes, showering, sleeping, or doing strenuous activities like riding a bike or exercising. Never wear fine jewelry to the beach! Please follow our care guides below for your unique piece so it can last for lifetimes.
Beaded Gemstones
Pearls and natural gemstone beads benefit from being worn and absorbing the natural oils on your skin. While they benefit from moisture, they should not be submerged in water. We strongly recommend not wearing your beaded jewelry in the shower, ocean, hot tubs, etc.
If the clasp becomes tarnished, we recommend using polishing cloths like Sunshine Cloths to clean the metal. Never use a polishing cloth on any type of stone as it will scratch. If your beaded piece has a magnetic clasp make sure to always slide the clasp apart, never pull!
If your beaded piece feels like it’s becoming loose with wear please contact us so we can re-string it for you.
Silver Jewelry
Like all precious metals and stones, your silver is of the earth and alive. Expect oxidation over time. Oxidation is a natural process for all silver, even sterling silver. Polishing cloths like Sunshine Cloths are amazing for removing oxidation but please never use them on stones as they can cause dullness and scratches to them.
We recommend storing your silver jewelry in a jewelry box or dustbag.
Fine Jewelry
Fine jewelry is delicate and should be taken care of accordingly. The best way to clean diamonds and gemstones is with a soft toothbrush and gentle dish soap then rinse with warm water and dry with a soft, clean microfiber cloth. When in doubt take your special piece to a professional jeweler to have it cleaned for you! Always store fine jewelry in a jewelry box or dustbag to keep it from getting scratched or lost.
Engagement rings should be reviewed by a professional jeweler every year to make sure prongs are tight and secure. Keeping your piece clean will prevent prongs from lifting.
We recommend keeping an up-to-date inventory on your fine jewelry with photographs and appraisals for your insurance!
